Sweet Peas 2018

Sweet Peas 2018

Hi, Everyone! Again, because of the holiday season, I’m keeping the blogs short-and-sweet with just a nostalgic look at some of my favorite blogs this year.

Sweet peas…even the name makes me smile. Memories of these lovely multi-colored flowers go very deep with me. My grandmother grew them every spring on a simple string frame then she kept her house full of cuttings in a bunch of bud vases scattered throughout the house.  I can still smell the beautiful fragrance today.

Do you have fond memories of sweet peas? What is your favorite flower? Remember, this blog might be short, but I’m still running the weekly bracelet contest, so be sure to leave a comment, even if it’s just ‘Happy Holidays’ or “Merry Christmas’. Speaking of which, for those of you who celebrate this holiday, I wish you and your family every joy! Hugs all around, Caris!

For the original, July 31st blog on Sweet Peas, go here. The photographs, however, are the same in both blogs! Enjoy!

  1. Merry Christmas, Caris! I’ve never seen sweet peas, as far as I know, but they look like beautiful flowers. As always, thank you for the informative post and beautiful pictures!

  2. Merry Christmas! I actually have a basket of (fake) sweet pea flowers on my cabinet right now. I’d like to smell the real thing, though!

  3. Sweet Peas are so pretty, my mom always grows them in variety of colors. I called each of my girls and now my grand daughter sweet pea – lol.

  5. Although I have never grown sweet peas, I do love that scent. So delicate and feminine. The colors are so pretty, but the photo of the rich purple ones really grabbed me.

Merry Christmas and thank you for your dedication to putting together these fun postings.

  7. Merry Christmas! Sweet peas were one of my grandma’s favorite flowers. She grew them every spring on the east wall of the garage where it was warm, sunny and sheltered. I loved getting to go out and pick her a bouquet of these wonderful flowers! I still grow them in her memory 30 years after her passing. They’re a wonderful memorial to her.

  8. I love sweet peas!!! When my grandma was alive, she hand painted china and I have an entire luncheon set with them

  9. Sandra L, you are so right, they do look like tiny orchids. I love orchids so it goes without saying I love these too. The light blue and pink are beautiful together.

  10. Love the photos. My favorite flower is the Peony. My mother had vases full of Peonies and Lilacs in season. I have some lovely pink, magenta and white plants in my garden now. Hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas season.
